Frequently Asked Questions

Due to Covid--is this race going to be in person or Virtual?  Great news!! We have gotten approval from the Winnebago Co. Health Department and the Village of Roscoe to have the race!

What are you doing to protect against Covid-19? Please see above the Safety Guidelines and Health Questionnaire. We will start each group of 50 runners 30 minutes apart.  The 1/2 Marathon and 5k will have different finish lines (both still at Leland; just separated).  Participants will remain masked until they cross the timing carpet at the start and must mask up as soon as the race is complete. There will be no race day packet pick-up and no race day registration. Runners will be asked to complete a health screening prior to racing the day of the race.  There will be no awards ceremony and only water will be available at the end instead of our normal post race celebration.  We ask that spectators not gather at Leland Park--they may find you along the race course and ask that they also practice social distancing.

What do the proceeds of the race benefit?  Great question--The Stone Bridge 1/2 Marathon and 5k benefits our LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program-a 12 week small group program to help Cancer Survivors reclaim their health.  RUN STRONG to HELP OTHERS LIVESTRONG!

Where do I park? There is plenty of places to park on the street at/near Leland Park in Roscoe, IL. (Broad Street/3rd Street).

Do I have to wear a mask?  Masks are to be worn before and after the race--they may be taken off as soon as you begin the race and must be worn once completing the race.

Awards? ALL 1/2 Marathon and 5k participants will receive a Finisher’s medal. There will be age group awards for both the 1/2 marathon and 5k in addition to an Overall Male and Female award for the 5k and 1/2 marathon.  The top 3 in the following male and female age groups will receive an award 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59,60-69 and 70 and above.  Please note: Due to Covid Restrictions there will not be an awards ceremony--awards may be picked up at the Roscoe YMCA.

Can I wear headphones, bring my dog, or ride my bicycle?  We understand that many runners need headphones to aid in their running concentration, or distraction.  Headphones are allowed but not recommended for safety purposes.  Although most of the course is on the trail, please use caution at the intersections. Dogs and bicycles are not allowed for safety reasons.

Will Gear Check be available?  The race starts and ends where you car will be parked we ask that racers store their extra clothes in their vehicles.

Are walkers welcome? The course will be open until Noon–if you feel you will be able to finish the course within the time limit, you are more than welcome to register.

Is the race chip timed? Yes–you will have a chip in the form of a sticker on the back of you race number, please place it on the front of your shirt.

How many water stations are there? Please see the map–there will be one water station with water bottles for the 5k at the 5k Turn-around.  There will 7 water stations with water bottles for the 1/2 Marathon.  If you need additional sports drinks like Gatorade, you will need to carry them.
